YORKVILLE CELLARS HI-ROLLR RED 2007

The bulk of the Hi-Rollr is Zinfandel with fair shares of Merlot and Malbec and just a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.  All of the grapes are grown organically, seeing no pesticides or chemicals ever. They are then hand picked and sorted before each varietal is fermented separately and upon completion winemaker, Greg Graziano assembles the final blend into this beautifully balanced, fruit forward and tantalizingly spicy wine. The Yorkville Highland appellation is known for its stony soil, differing greatly from the loamy clay found in the surrounding valley.  It imparts a bright mineral note to the Hi-Rollr, while the marine influence provided by the expansive Pacific to the west keeps the vineyards cool, allowing for slow and balanced maturation and lower alcohol levels.
