Sutton Cellars Merlot "Table Wine" 2005

Carl's wines are bright, floral, fresh and packed with concentration and subtle spice making them simply awesome with grilled or smoked meats.  Yet, they are not bogged down by over manipulation or oak.

The Sutton Cellars “Table Wine” is 100% Merlot from Sonoma county – 70% Bennett Valley hillside for structure and spice and 30% Russian River for fruit and aromatics. Even with 5 years in the bottle it is still lively and fresh as it's fully integrated with its 30 months in barrel. The fruit and aromatics remind us of raspberries with that tart, ripe but earthy freshness you get when you eat them out of the container.  Could we say fresh one more time?  Fresh, fresh, fresh! You get the picture - this is a spring time red.

meet the winemaker

Carl Sutton
Renaissance man, wild man.  Bringing it old school - he makes small production wine oozing with the same character he does. He started in 1996 making just 350 cases of wine.  He was like a garage band, but just making wine instead of music. His current production is now 3,000 cases, half of which is "Table Wine" Merlot. The thing we love most about Carl's wines is that they are fermented with wild yeast and are unfined and unfiltered. 100% pure.
