Occhipinti SP68
grape: 60% frappato + 40% nero d'avola
region: vittoria, sicily
soil type: calcareous rock, limestone
vinified in: stainless steel
a few words: this new project blends frappato and nero d avola from younger vines and is a mere snapshot, or perhaps an introduction to the land of vittoria. the blend is vinified and aged in stainless steel as well as in bottle. the two varietals run parallel to each other, however, the flavors and aromas of each varietal take turns to elegantly and boisterously show their complexity.
tasting notes: the frappato shows earthy and ripe raspberry fruit notes, while the nero offers additional depth and texture with notes of smoke, sun baked mulberry fruit and minerals. don't forget the spot on acidity.
