inama soave classico 2009

The Inama family finds themselves lucky in their vineyard holdings and they pass that luck on to us via their delicious and viscous Soave Classico.  If the soave region had cru status vineyards, Monte Foscarino vineyard would be designated as such and here's where our luck begins: this little Inama Soave Classico comprises of more than 70% of Foscarino juice. What does that mean exactly. It means you get to drink cru soave for classico price. Buono! Not only that you get to enjoy old vines too.  Some of them upwards of 30 years old.  But wait! What about that volcanic soil?  It is basaltic lava that to us imparts a beautiful tangerine aroma and even a subtle showing in the palate.

So, how's it taste? Well, the wine, as we've alluded to many times already, is not your average soave.  This offers up a full oily mouthfeel, delicious citrus notes and a long beautiful perfumed finish. it is rather rich and round, but if you insisted on having it alone make sure to have a scenic panorama. If you want to have a little din-din too, don't be shy to make something gamey like quail.

Stefano Inama
An opinionated, passionate and extremely intelligent man, Stefano has changed the way people feel about soave.  Raised in Italy, but educated in London, he sounds a bit like Ozzy Osborn, but has a biting wit and wicked nature. For instance, here is a quote from Stefano about garganega: "Working with old vines from the best plots and being accurate with viticulture...I like garganega, but it is difficult to control. You need to be a vine man and not a consultant: if you do it by the book it is a disaster". Disaster! Now that sounds like someone taking his wine seriously. You should too. So, imagine that precision as you take a sip of this rich, voluptuous and perfumed soave.
