Edmunds St. John Gamay "Bone Jolly" 2008

Bone Jolly is sourced from Witters' Vineyard in El Dorado County. It is 100% gamay noir, the vines are young at only 10 years old, but are complex young vines as they grow at 3,400 feet in volcanic clay-loam on north facing slopes. Let's just say they're kind of like a 15 year old admitted to MIT working on his third draft of his thesis on quasiperfect numbers.

Described by Steve Edmunds as bright purply-red in color, exuberant nose of raspberry, mulberry, violets and a touch of pepper, showing some depth.  Fresh in the mouth, and bright with acidity, yet round and juicy, light grippy tannins and very good length. The kind of wine characterized by the French as "alimentaire".

Described by Central Bottle as freakin' delicious! Come by and pick some up.

Steve Edmunds
Started in 1985, producing just 675 cases of wine, it only took one year for Edmunds St. John to make their mark on California. Sticking to their guns and concentrating on wines through which "the earth speaks" Edmunds St. John has made very deep impressions on wine geeks and lovers of Rhone varietals for years and years. Emulating the wines he loves of Europe, yet raising the bar for California, Steve's worked hard to ask winemakers to "...focus, with our full attention, on the qualities inherent in the raw materials at hand, and to permit them to express what is theirs to express, in a natural way." Oh, and he's a mean guitar player with a collection of self-penned songs called Lonesome on the Ground.  www.edmundsstjohn.com
