What is this feinherb you speak of? And how is it different than halbtrocken? Well, as far as we can tell halbtrocken is half dry and feinherb is, well, partially sweet. Hum? Well balanced shall we say?
So, this well balanced riesling comes from the Dr. F. Weins-Prum estate, once part of the original Prum estate that was split among the children in 1911. The Weins-Prum estate is a mere 12.5 acres and as you can see above, on steep sloping terrain. It is planted 100% to riesling and produces a modest 6,000 cases. Just what we like. Small production by small families. Oh, and it offers a great value too. It's sharing some of the same vineyard sites as his cousin J.J. Prum, but not the same price tag.
Perfect to beat the heat and tasty with whatever you have cooked up this weekend. This little German gives us a floral nose, bright stone fruit in the mouth and grippy minerality. Not to mention, a nice dry, crisp finish!
