Old Vine Monastrell
Monsastrell is best known as the textured Mourvedre of France.  With a new name in Spain it seems that the soil gives it new characteristics too.  It becomes lush, round, juicy and full flavored.  Sometimes it offers it's French counterparts spiciness, but not always.  The high altitudes of the Jumilla DO, along with a soil composition based in sand and a hot - dry climate, makes the burly Monastrell, king of the Spanish Levant.  The tenacious terrior has proven to be ideal for this hard-skinned grape and translates into juicy drinking pleasure.
