Quite okay if, for you, wine tastes like, well, wine. But if you'd like to soup-up your olfactory powers and be able to better describe and appreciate what you're drinking, this hands-on (or nose-on) workshop is a good way to begin. We will be sampling six types of wines (3 red and 3 white) and comparing our impressions to the smells of dozens of familiar fruits, herbs, spices, and other samples--think "live" aroma wheel. We will also briefly cover where the smells come from and how winemaking techniques also add flavor and change weight. Whether you are a casual drinker or have an enviable cellar, this will be a fun and informative experience.
Class is limited to 12 people.
*Andrea drank her first glass of wine (Chateau Manischewitz) at the age of 5 and has never looked back. Although she was diverted for many years working as a technical editor, she eventually came to her senses to pursue what she had always loved most: food, wine, and obsessing about them both. Circuitously she ended up at Central Bottle, where she can happily combine all three and get paid for it. Andrea attended the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts and the Elizabeth Bishop Wine Resource Center at Boston University.
